Learn how to Bodyboard.

Bodyboarding, or boogieboarding, is a great beach activity the whole family can enjoy together.  Unless there is a tropical storm or hurricane in the area, the gentle surf in the area is ideal for beginners.
In the summer, the Atlantic Ocean is warm enough so you do not need a wetsuit.

The only equipment you need to begin bodyboarding is a bodyboard.  Don't just rush out and buy a cheap foam board.  They are not durable and will (most likely) break on the first day.  Especially with children, you may think that they are light so an inexpensive bodyboard should be alright.  Children tend to play more with the boards and practice on the sand so there is a good chance you'll need something more hardy.
